DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

Dalam pelajaran bahasa, baik Bahasa Indonesia maupun Bahasa Inggris, terdapat beragam jenis teks yang kita pelajari. Dalam Bahasa Indonesia terdapat teks eksposisi, narasi, deskripsi, persuasi, argumentasi, dll.  Dalam pelajaran Bahasa Inggris pun demikian. Sejak kita SD, kita sudah belajar beragam teks berbahasa Inggris seperti exposition text, narrative text, descriptive text, report, news items, procedure text, etc. Kali ini kita akan mempelajari sebuah teks berbahasa Inggris, yakni DESCRIPTIVE TEXT (teks deskripsi). 

Dalam percakapan sehari - hari, kadangkala -- tanpa kalian sadari -- kalian telah membuat sebuah teks deskripsi. Coba jawab pertanyaan ringan berikut:

1. Pernahkah kalian menceritakan sebuah tempat wisata?

2. Pernahkah kalian mengingatkan teman akan penampilan guru TK/ SD-mu yang temanmu lupa lagi?

3. Apabila kalian akan menjual sebuah barang, tentu kalian menjelaskan barang tersebut untuk meyakinkan pembeli, bukan? Apa yang kalian deskripsikan?

Itulah DESCRIPTIVE TEXT! 

Betul kan, sebenarnya kalian pernah membuat Descriptive Text dalam keseharian kalian? 

Jadi, apa itu Descriptive Text? Untuk lebih jelasnya, silahkan simak video berikut ini. Silahkan catat penjelasan dalam video tersebut yang menurut kalian penting. Kalian tidak perlu mengerjakan tugas yang terdapat di akhir video itu. Simak baik2 penjelasannya saja.

CAPAIAN PEMBELAJARAN:
Setelah menyimak video dan membaca teks deskripsi yang diberikan, kalian diharapkan mampu:
1. Memahami apa itu Descriptive Text.

2. Mengevaluasi isi detil spesifik dan inti dari Descriptive Text.

3. Memproduksi sebuah Descriptive Text dalam bentuk lisan.

Sekarang, kerjakan tugas - tugas berikut (Tugas A s.d. C). Boleh berdiskusi tapi tidak mencontek jawaban. Kalian boleh menggunakan Google Translate atau bertanya pada guru apabila ada kata2 atau kalimat yang masih sulit dipahami.

TEXT 2:

The Great Mosque of Tasikmalaya is a historic mosque that accompanies the process of developing the Tasikmalaya area. This mosque was built by the Regent of Sumedang, Raden Tumenggung Aria Surya Atmadja and then handed over to the Patih of Tasikmalaya, Patih Demang Sukma Amijaya.

Currently the mosque has been transformed into a landmark of the City of Tasikmalaya. A very strategic location on the edge of the city center protocol road, gold yellow accents on the roof, and four towers that are similar to the minarets of the Grand Mosque (Masjidil Haram) make this mosque the center of attention there.

In addition to the aesthetic value, the architectural details of the mosque also emphasize the philosophical meaning of Islam. The five roofs reflect the obligation to pray five times a day and five things in the pillars of Islam. While the four towers mean four sciences, namely Arabic language, sharia, history, and al-wisdom or philosophy.

The three parts of the minaret reflect the level of perfection of a Muslim, namely faith, Islam, and ihsan. The 33-meter-tall tower symbolizes the number of remembrance of the Creator in the form of tasbih, tahmid, and takbir.

The mosque also has a social function for the surrounding community. Therefore, this house of worship is equipped with a shady and beautiful garden that makes it more shady.
